I bought this Maddi RML "New in Box" in 1993, and have fired every known load of 7.62 x 39 mm through it, even the(lite load) E. German plastic core training ammo, it never had a miss fire or hang up. The thumbhole stock works and feels pretty good in your hand, unlike the MAC-90 and others. The Maddi can have the true look of a Russian AK if you go to the expense and restore it. Since the sun set of the crime bill this can be done for less that $100.00 .You can replace the trigger Pack with a Tapco trigger pack (3 US Parts) and add a US pistol grip(1 US Part), and use a US made Magazine (3 US parts). Add a laminated butt stock and it would look like a Russian AK. With the exception of the early FEG Hungarian and Chinese Poly Tech's, you would be hard pressed to beat the Maddi RML AK. |
| Pros: |
Excellent finish on wood and metal. Excellent owners manual provided along with a certificate of manufacture date.
A sharp looking AK. Came with a good wide (soft) sling. Has cleaning rod under barrel, to give it that (AK Look) |
| Cons: |
Muzzle threads turned off by importer, making it impossible to restore a flash-hider with US made parts. Some new made Polymer mags will not fit without some minor fitting to the mags (2 minutes with a file), all steel mags fit fine and Thermold mags fit fine as well. Later production (1995-98) Maddi's have a poorer finish than my 1993 RML. |
